Who Are True Representative of India and its people?

India is world's largest democracy. We have well established system where we have elections every five year and system gives right to people of India to elect their representatives. Role of that representatives is not just to make laws but make sure that there is debate on every important issues , various sections of society are taken care of and smooth functioning of government occurs.

In India the average voting percentage of 50% at high level. Congress which is leading party with maximum seats right now has 11 crore people who voted for them.That is in 120 crore population we have had less than 10 percent voting for them. Considering out of 120 crore we would have 35% population below 18 years age , we have 11 crore out of 78 crores. It still makes under 15%!!!!!!!...

As Anna hazare movement has captured imagination of people of India , there have been many voices from many quarters about 'who gave them right '. It is true that in democracy you need to have mandate to represent people. Mandate comes from elections and till anna team goes for elections , questions would be kept on being asked.

But do we need mandate to do what we believe is right?. Did anna force people to come out?. Did he bribe them like many politicians are accused of?. Did anna alone did what ever he did?. What would have been anna effect if people wont have supported him?

So who are true representatives of India?. Well India is second most populous country in the world. It is one of most diverse country with so many religions , languages ,caste and ethnics in it. Representing Indians is true sense requires diverse team . Government can claim they are true representatives because they have diverse team and mandate which has been outcome of participation in election process.

But when it comes to corruption or aam aadmi's issue, has government been true representative of people of India?. We have been independent since last 64 years. We have been republic since last 61 years , has corruption died down or shown any sign of dying down?. Do as Indian citizen I need to wait for participating in elections to protest?. If my protest gets bigger and people start joining in , is it my fault or is it obvious that government is not representing people in true sense?

I am prime supporter of parliamentary authority and system. I am more for it getting strengthened but will of people is always supreme in democracy and if we have system which has vote only once in five years , well we need amendment in that. We need review system which would review performance of every member of parliament ,every year and we should
have right to call back.

Anna Movement is no more restricted to one bill but it has to be taken to far more constructive conclusion about how we see our democracy and role of people of India in it.

Who represent India and its people?. Simple all those who stand for concerns of Indians , stands for it and is unwilling to dilute that stand represents people of India.
